White Gold

white gold ringGold is often combined with other metals particularly silver and platinum in different proportions to create the shades and glow of white gold jewelry. My preferred choice of investment has always been the 22-karat piece because it still retains a small portion of the yellow color brilliance and at the same time, you could see the white glow appearing as well.

White gold is often sold at much higher price and is largely combined with other metals in order to form the alloy. Platinum-based white gold for instance, fetches a very commanding price because of its characteristic, which is very hard to melt. Therefore, a 22-karat white gold based on platinum is usually the one most sought after and is considered the premium type.

On the other hand, silver, which is less expensive, is also used in the manufacture of white gold. And because the cost of production is often less coupled with ease of handling, white gold based on silver is sold at much lower price. Sometimes they are used in combination with other metals such as bronze or copper and the resulting jewelry is easily distinguished by the pale white color effect.

Today, the most common application for white gold is for rings and pendants. In fact, the trend now is towards white gold bridal jewelry and it has become increasingly popular as it makes an excellent engagement ring.
